Kolocep, Lopud and Sipan.

My apartment is great..  Honestly any couple (or three people because there is another bed in my room)  could have the cheapest as chips holiday and a totally great time here in Dubrovnik! I've been very lucky.

Kolocep, Lopud and Sipan are three Islands nearby and today I did a three Island tour with free drinks and a fish lunch thrown in.  I only had two glasses of wine.  It would have killed me to drink any more, a kind of heat induced alcohol torture.  Lemonade and water was all I wanted.

Before the trip I went into the cathedral and took a photo of their Patron Saint...Blaise.  He's holding the old city of Dubrovnik in his hand.  Protecting it for ever...

Then off I went on my second boat trip.  I sat outside today with the young ones all happily frying themselves like sausages. Getting yourself a good tan is a full time job.

I took my best photo of my holiday through the boat slats and I got my timing just right.I'm very pleased with this photo:

These cruise liners really are  floating cities.  No wonder Dubrovnik gets so packed with tourists.

Good bye Dubrovnik!

I got fried to a crisp and moved inside and sat next to a woman from Santa Cruz California. She was telling me about the buffalo seals which come and mate and fight there and the Monarch Butterflies which rest for a while in Santa Cruz in November.  Maybe I'll have to go there one day.

The three Islands we visited were amazing.  Quite relaxing, but I didn't have long on each...I wandered up to the fort and to the old churches on Kolocep.

 Kolocep church and Kolocep flowers.

Saw some fancy old houses on Sipan.
and went swimming on Lopud.

I love how green everywhere is. It's so fresh looking...really not what you would expect in a country of this heat level. (But this is freak weather at the moment.)  and the Adriatic is beautiful.  The way it changes colours from blues through to greens is wonderful.  It is far more beautiful than I expected and everywhere is so clean and everyone seems so organised.  No mad shouting and barging people.  And the level of English of the people in the tourist trade is outstanding...many of them must have lived or been to the States or Britain. Or they are just wonderful language learners.

When I got back to Dubrovnik I decided to go up the cable car.  It made my ears hurt...they still haven't popped back properly yet and I'm still swaying from being on a boat all day.  Yes, me, boats and heights shouldn't mix!  My ears are not suitable for a traveller in any way!

Anyway, the view from the top of the hill was fabulous.

Old town going up the cable car.

Old town and Lokrum, which I visited yesterday.

My hair has grown about 2 cm since I have been here. It's uncontrollable and I'm thinking of having a haircut in Sarajevo or Split.   I think I am going through a growth spurt..maybe I'll come back taller.
